The ALICE A.I. Foundation has released a draft specification of a major upgrade to AIML (Artificial Intelligence Markup Language), version 2.0 of the language. AIML is a widely adopted standard for creating chat bots and mobile virtual assistants like ALICE, Mitsuku, English Tutor, The Professor and many more. A decade or more of experience building AIML bots has informed the need for new features in the language. The need for new features however is tempered by the goal of keeping AIML as simple as possible, especially for non-programmers.

AIML 2.0 combines Pandorabots extensions to the language, the Out-of-Band (OOB) tags that implement actions on mobile devices, and a collection of new AIML features. AIML 2.0 includes a new tag so that the bot can access responses from remote web services and even other AIML bots. The AIML 2.0 draft includes new wildcards, conditional loops, local variables, and the ability to specify attribute values in tags.

Neo (nickname: Neobot) is a chatterbot of the Betabot family which uses the ProgramPY-SH engine and uses Xaiml files as the knowledge databases. The core of Neo (ProgramPY-SH) is written in Python3.x and BASH.

NOTE: Neo does not work on Windows or mobile devices at this time. Neo was designed specifically for Linux; the program works on FreeBSD, Solaris, MAC OS, and other Unix systems. Currently, support for Windows is being implemented.

Neo's development started March 30, 2012 by Devyn Collier Johnson, NCLA, Linux+, LPIC-1, DCTS. Neo uses the ProgramPY-SH engine which reads Xaiml files instead of AIML files. Xaiml stands for eXtended Artificial Intelligence Markup Language and was first made August 31, 2012 by Devyn Collier Johnson, NCLA, Linux+, LPIC-1, DCTS. The ProgramPY-SH engine is written in Python3.x and BASH. All chatterbots that run on the ProgramPY-SH engine are known as Betabots. Before version 0.6a, Neo was called Betabot, but now, Betabot refers to any ProgramPY-SH based chatterbot that uses Xaiml instead of AIML.

FIONA stands for Framework for Interactive-services Over Natural-conversational Agents. It's a global online platform to create Intelligent and Interactive Virtual Avatars. Fiona lets you develop and upload your Sparks and share or sell them in an online store.

A Spark is a small functionality, like a TTS, a face tracking system, or the appearance of the avatar. You can think of a spark as a component or a module, but it could be any possible functionality that can be part of an avatar (TTS module, Knowledge representation, prediction on human behavior, statistical analysis of interaction results...)

The final goal is the creation of an Artificial Mind. There are many people over the world developing and researching in different fields related to artificial intelligence, but they are very focused on a very specific subject. We came up with the idea of creating a platform that puts together all that knowledge and effort to accelerate the process of producing an artificial mind.

Aici is an infant competition and show case bot for resonating neural networks. It's abilities and performance will be improved on as time goes by and experience has been gathered from competing against other bots.

Legion is an educational chat-bot with a large and growing database of knowledge, she can be fun too.

Micha is a prototype AI chat program composed in C/C++. Micha is a hybrid system which uses computational lingustics to respond to people's input along with clever ways to answer the most commonly asked questions. Micha contains a very large database of conversational statements and questions along with extensive knowledge of history, geography, science, technology, philosophy and many other topics.

The amazingly realistic female android, named Actroid DER 2, was demonstrated at the AKIBA Robot Festival here in the Akihabara district of Tokyo.

Philip K. Dick asked, "Do androids dream of electric sheep?" Now, decades later, we still don't have a definitive answer to his query, though we may find out sooner than anyone thinks. Although they haven't been combined into a complete, fully functional android yet, all of the required pieces seem to be coming together in an amazingly realistic fashion.

It can talk about all the stuff related to the band and also about other general subjects. Emphasis was set to the sense of humour, to make him more engaging. Its look was inspired by the band's logotype.
